What are the advantages of glass plates?
Made from tempered glass, the Duralex® offer both a soft touch and an unprecedented shine to your crockery. Their very rapid cooling technique also provides excellent resistance in the event of an impact - around 6 times more than a piece of non-tempered glass.
Another undeniable advantage is its very light weight: you can easily handle a stack ofdinner plates, d'soup plates ordessert platesThey're ideal for setting or clearing a table quickly, even for a large number of guests. They're all stackable, so they're easy to store on your shelves and in your cupboards.
Finally, tempered glass is a non-porous material that prevents dirt from becoming embedded and is easy to clean with a sponge or in the dishwasher. As a result, clear or coloured glass plates also prevent the growth of bacteria on their surface, an undeniable hygienic advantage over stoneware or ceramic.
What are the different types of plate?
Duralex glass plates® are available in a multitude of shapes and styles. To begin with, you can choose from a range of different sizes: sets of flat or soup plates between 23 and 28 cm in diameter and sets of small plates between 19 and 23 cm.
As well as the dimensions, you will also need to choose the shape of the plate, between the timeless design of the Lys and the bevelled curves of the Le Picardie®. The last factor to take into account is the colour of the product: glass plates transparent or coloured glass plates in blue, orange, vert or grey.
How do you use your glass plates?
Duralex plate sets® to accompany you throughout your meal. The brand offers a whole range of models that can be used both as plates and as dishes, for example to present appetisers before the meal.
Once you're at the table, you'll have the opportunity to use the smaller models for the starter, then the larger plates for the main course: the flat pieces for a pretty presentation of your latest recipe, or the hollow ones for a dish in sauce, a salad or a risotto. Finally, at dessert time, small plates return, either identical to or different from the collection used for the starter.
How should your glass plates be presented?
For a faultless presentation, start with a presentation plate that will serve as a support for the others and will only be removed when the cheese is served.
On top, you will usually find a dinner plate and a soup plate. Specific models for foie gras and cheese can also be brought along during the meal.
